From one hand to another.

All the best things are vintage. Just watched "Grey Gardens" which confirmed even more what I'm always thinking: style can NOT be bought, but the best fashion is the one of a penny.

I was going trough my picture folders on the lappy and found this little collection of great purchases I made in vintage stores and markets in stockholm/barcelona/london.

I will take some more pics of other things I've found during the years...Will need another wardrobe ASAP since my bf isn't very found of our flat turning into a second hand store stockroom.

A fringe jacket is a classic must.Humana Barcelona

Quilted jacket found in Encants with buttons bought separate, also from Encants, Barcelona.

Handmade clutch from Lisa Larsson, Stockholm.

Marockan wallet, Encants Barcelona.

Broche, Encants Barcelona.

Fantastic turban, Brick Lane markets, London

1940's bata, Lailo Barcelona

Poncho, Encants Barcelona.

Fringy shoes, Humana Barcelona

Necklace, Encants Barcelona.

Think I have to make another visit in that market very soon.

Guerra de la Paz.

I am obsessed with...

Cuban artist duo Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz creates art installations / exhibitions of second hand clothing. Their work references the politics of modern conflict and consumerism alongside symbols of faith.

It is kind of like a visual merchandising dream to one day get to do things like this. Or imagine to get to work with them one day! (Eeeh...maybe you guys are looking for interns?)

If you paid attention to the first editorial I posted (A Customized Editorial), you might see that Guerra de la Paz was one of my biggest inspirations, among other designers/artists creating fashion/art of recycled clothing.

Please visit their amazing website: Guerra de la Paz.

They also have a blog here.

Below you can see some of their previous work, and the artists themselves :)

Advanced Style.

Wooooooow. Why didn't I think of this splendid idea??? Advances Style is a fantastic blog wit the statement: "Proof from the wise and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age"

I T I S T O D I E F O R !

Look at this amazing headband. It's just...aaah.

And this. I find no words.

Here are my other favorite "golden" icons:

Anna Piaggi
(admiration is a small word. This is my LIFE GOAL)

Iris Apfel
(Her book composed together with the Met museum has a sacred place on my nightstand)

Little Edie & Big Edie

This is truly the reason why I always shop vintage or do bargains in my mom's, aunt's and grandma's house. It's an amazing feeling to wear garments that had a previous life before you.

Screw mass production.

Prada s/s 2010

For next week I have to step into the mind of Miuccia Prada and Yang Fudong and interview them as myself and the interviewer in a "fiction" text. Will be veeery interesting :)

Yang Fudong footage

The reason for this is the Prada advertising video made together with Yang Fudong:

Here's a interview with Miuccia Prada from 2009 for Talk Asia, so I might use this as a base in order to get the right tone of Mrs. Prada...

The Burberry Trench.

Last week in Production Process we had to look at a brand and the difference between store and runway pieces. I chose Burberry since the Christopher Bailey A/W 2010 show was fresh, crisp and just what the brand needed in order to keep the image clean and reconnect with the heritage of Thomas Burberry without overlicencing that wellknown pattern we've seen everywhere the last decades.

It was also interesting to visit the Barcelona store and see if spanish customers will stay faithful to the brand, even though Burberry closed down the Spanish Operations (collections exclusively designed for the spanish market) in january this year, leaving about 300 people without jobs.

The trench has always been a symbol of Burberry, and with the A/W 2010 collection it was true fashion engineering that brought that piece of clothing back on the map as a trendsetter. Draped shoulders and slim, belted waists made it modern, but maybe most important it became clear that the trench can be worn by all: old, young, man, woman, classy, crazy; you name it.

In line with the collection, Burberry has created a campaign site for the trench to honour it as the timeless garment it is. Photos have been taken by well known style blogger Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and links are provided with the story of the trench and online shops.

Fraggletown.

The visit to Fraga/Florida135 was certainly an experience I'll never forget. The club was built as a town inside with bars, alleys and insane gogo-dancers.

The real Fraga was a bit less exciting, with one main street, one hotel ("Casanova", where 1000 retired hobbits/fraggles hung out waiting for better days. Our room was also built for hobbits which was of course was necessary for the hotel in order to fit even more hobbits into the city's only temporary hogar. And a salad in Catalunya is obviously not the same as a salad in Aragón where all vegetables came from cans. It's just more practical, Ok?

(OJO! Please note the extremely incoherent headwear of the girl in the back.)

I left this desert oasis with the satisfaction of having met the inner Spain just as i imagined it. A little bit dryer, little bit more flamenco moves to hardcore techno, and a whole lot crazier.

Bona Nit!
